We have done it, After the whole summer off-season Arsenal have finally secured the signiture of Diarra from Chelsea, for a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee. Apperently, Arsene was after Lassana before he went to Chelsea, But the Pensioners offered more and then got him.
He is a good little player, and has played in the back and as a midfielder for Chelsea, Where he will generally play at Arsenal is so far an unknown, But I think that because he has taken Freddie’s old number 8 he will play in a midfield role, maybe as a wingers role? Whether he plays against Pompey is still undecided but I don’t think that he will play on sunday.
Awarded individual accolades of Young Player of the Year by both former clubs, Le Havre (2004) and Chelsea (2006), Diarra has gone on to play for France in their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, he is a good addition to the squad and hopefully plays as well in an Arsenal shirt as he has played in previous games.
Lassana Diarra said to Arsenal.com: “I have great respect for the manager Arsène Wenger and am attracted by the style of football that the team plays. Of course I am excited by what the future holds and keen to play my part in helping Arsenal fight for trophies this season and for years to come.â€
Arsène Wenger said: “Lassana is a multi-functional player, making him a great addition to our squad. Not only is he hard working, he has a creative edge and is comfortable playing in the middle of the pitch or at right back.â€
