Michael Cheney, one of the most-respected names in Internet marketing, has been online since 1995 and is the man behind the 6-Figure launches of AdSense Videos and 11 Days To List Profits. We managed to grab some time with him recently and quiz him on his favorite topic - traffic.

Q. Firstly Michael, thank you for joining us today in your busy schedule.

A. Hey no problem. Good to be here.

Q. We all know that traffic is important but could you just explain a bit about traffic for the beginners out there?

A. Sure. Traffic is the lifeblood of any business online. Without it you just die. We all know that. But what a lot of us don’t realize is that just like everything else on the Internet traffic changes very quickly. That is, the methods of getting traffic are changing all the time and that’s where people get caught out.

Q. What do you mean by “caught out”?

A. Well people fall into the trap of thinking that just because they know one or two traffic generation methods that they are some sort of traffic master. In reality just because you know how to start a pay per click campaign or a little bit about search engines doesn’t make you anywhere near a traffic expert. I’m trying to spread the word that there is a massive array of traffic tactics that most people aren’t even aware of, let alone using or mastering.

Q. Can you give us some examples?

A. Sure. Offline for example. You might immediately think that getting traffic is a purely online activity but the truth of the matter is that there are lots of things you can be doing offline to get people into your website. And it’s usually these sorts of areas that are being under-utilized and therefore there is less competition for that traffic as well.

Q. So by offline you mean advertising offline?

A. Not necessarily. That is one method, yes, but I’m thinking of more creative ways to get people into your website. It all comes down to the fact that having asked people on my list it came as no surprise that most people want to know about free rather than paid traffic sources. I’ve had to become an expert in free ways of getting traffic in my time online.

Q. What do you mean - I thought you were running a successful online business with lots of cash flow?

A. I am. But it’s not always been this way. When I first started out in 1995 I had nothing. No money to play with. Just my own initiative and imagination.

Q. So are you saying you’re against paying for traffic online?

A. No. No I’m not saying that at all. What I’m saying is that, especially when you first start out, you always want to focus on the free methods. You get the traffic in for free, make some sales and then you can reinvest some of that money into paid methods of getting traffic. This speeds up the process.

Q. So what particular offline methods are you referring to - can you give us some examples?

A. There’s one tactic I used that costs nothing to implement, is relatively quick and ended up getting me thousands and thousands of targeted visitors into my websites. When I’ve shared this tactic with other marketers at seminars they’ve started laughing and slapping their foreheads when they saw how easy it was. They were also embarrassed that they had failed to use this tactic. It was quite amusing.

Q. So are you going to tell us what this method is?

A. No! (laughs) It’s in my course! I truly believe in rewarding those people that are most eager to learn so instead of giving away all my traffic tactics in interviews like this I’ve put some of them in an E-Book I’ve written. It is free though if people want to get it.

Hi everyone. This is a introduction to reviews of work from home products the first being Michael Cheney’s “Start your profits today ” training course. Although I do not need this system for myself I bought it so that I could review it and offer it to those people that need a training system that will get them into earning an income on line.

I did not want to re-invent the wheel by developing a training system when there were perfectly adequate systems out there.

But let us get down to the nitty gritty first. You want to, for whatever reason create an online business that will provide an ongoing income for yourself. Fair enough, unfortunately most people get hung onto these adverts that say “earn $5000 a month in 30 days” and you jump at it. You pay your money and hope. Sorry! It just does not work that way. You spend hours and hours each day trying to get people to join so that you will earn maybe a monthly income from these fly by night schemes.

Now, there are two types of people that want to earn on line. There are those who just want to earn a bit extra for those extra things they would like and those who really would like to run a online business to earn them a full time income. In both cases you need to learn the basics of setting up a business where you will get a return from your own efforts.

You are possibly employed in full time work. It does not matter what kind of work it is but didn’t you have to go through a period of learning before you were able to perform your work tasks to the full expectation of your employer? If you wanted to earn more didn’t you have to learn more to get greater rewards from your employer?

Well this applies to working for you as well. You have to learn and to learn you must do it in a structured manner. After all you spent 8 years or more at school or college to get where you are now and that wasn’t that structured.

Like all jobs you have to start at the bottom and work up. Earning income on the Internet can be a lot faster than the traditional methods but you still have to learn and learn right.

This is why I liked Michael Cheney’s approach. His training course assumes that the person starts off knows nothing and guides them through to a full realization of an online business. This is not to say that those who already are trying to develop an online business would not benefit from his training course. Even I after two years in the online business found some things that I did not know.

My review breaks his course into benefits.

2. Benefits for those who have already have a bit of experience in online businesses.
3. Benefits for those who profess to be experts on online businesses.

Now the other fallacy is that you can earn on the Internet without spending a penny. Well it’s not a fallacy; you can but it is an effort and progress is slow. Why? Because you are missing things. Learning in this kind of environment is like trying to learn to fix engines without going to trade school or whatever. You eventually do learn but how many stuffups do you have on the way. Ten years down the track you know how to fix engines. Do you want to wait ten years?

Most people who offer to you a free system are mainly in it for themselves. I am in it for myself but I am not offering a free system. I am reviewing Michael Cheney’s training system so that you can make a decision for yourself with no pretence that it is free.

Believe me there are a lot of free things on the Internet but most I use are the supporting free systems not the things you will make money from but things that support you to make money. Examples of these are keyword research tools, free blog software and many others. You cannot promote them in themselves to make money but you use them to help you to create your income in other areas. This is what Michael Cheney’s training course teaches you. And people, it is not free, on the other hand it is not expensive either. People go down to the local tech and pay 10 times the amount to learn the same thing.

Now this blog of mine is a support blog for those who want to advance themselves in the “work from home” business area. It will provide additional support to those just starting off. It will only be of value to those you really want to learn in a structured way. I will offer additional free software and hints to those who really want to start a business at home. But! I will only offer these after I have done a reveiw of them. Most of them I use myself.

Do you look after your computer? I bet not. You buy your spanking brand new PC sparkling hardware and windows-XP stick it under your deck with the monitor on top of your desk and away you go. Your computer gets slower and slower occasionally reboots itself but on you carry thinking these things are normal and you can put up with it.

But computers like cars need a bit of TLC. A fond cleaning and service does not go amiss to keep it humming along at its original speed.

There are many things that you can do to prolong the life of your PC, both hardware and software wise. Like all things, computers get dirty, they have fans that suck in all that dust and Debra that is flying about in the air these days. A clean computer runs faster and will stay in your family for much longer.

Here are lots of ways to keep your PC young.

1. Windows–XP comes with a defragmentation utility, at least once every month or two depending on how much creating and deleting of files you do. You can do this in Windows XP going to your Start menu, then All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then select Disk Defragmenter. The defragmenter brings all the bits of files together which speeds up the extraction when you access them. It also boosts the overall speed of your computer.

2. You should clean up files you no longer need. When you install/uninstall software frequently it can leave many unwanted files in temporary and system folders. In Windows XP, there is a disk Disk Cleanup utility that you should run occasionally to clean things up. This utility can be found by clicking the Start menu, then All Programs Accessories, System Tools, then select Disk Cleanup

3. Ensure that you have a good virus scanner installed. Viruses can cause havoc often slowing it down or even stopping it from working. You should always have a good virus scanner installed that should be kept up to date. I use AVG who have a free version that is very good. You can get it here.

4. A good spyware scanner should also be used as malware, spyware, adware, key loggers, and Trojan horses. Can also slow your PC down to a crawl as well as have serious security problems with any private information you have on your computer.

Keeping you computer clean is also important in making it run smoothly.

1. Open up your computer and clean out the dust. PC’s are notorious for sucking in the dust and blocking fan enclosures. Use a vacuum cleaner or a can of dust remover.

2. Keep your computer in a well-ventilated area and away from heaters and sunlight. This will help keep the computer cool and will prolong the life of it.

3. Do not buy cheap hardware. When buying new parts for your PC make sure they are off good quality. If you get components from well known manufacturers you can be sure that you will get good technical support.

There are many other things that can be done but by following these few basic tips you can be sure that you will reduce hardware computer problems as well as Windows XP problems.

Being a Windows XP grumpy old man of no known repute I am particularly grumpy about Windows at this time. With Windows XP you get all these funny messages that you are supposed to understand instantly. Some of them are so vague you wonder whether it’s talking to you or to itself.

You boot up your PC “found new hardware” you are told. What new hardware? Windows has found one but it doesn’t want to tell you what it is. Clairvoyant is what you are supposes to be. It then goes off and produces a window that asks you whether you want to wander off into the internet cloud to find some software for this hardware that has no name or do your own thing locally. Then it tells you that it can’t find any software for this mythical hardware so will not install it and still hasn’t told you what it is.

What happens now, it asked you if you want to go back and try again. Then it asks whether you want to select it from a list of devices. Hellooooo! You haven’t told me what it is Windows XP how am I going to do that? So you finally give up and click on finish! What! It then pops up the same window again asking you to do the same thing. So in desperation you hit the cancel button. Then it more or less calls you a silly old thing because it could not install this hardware and that you will have real problems as it was not installed properly.

Your windows PC gets slower and slower as time goes by. It gets worse than us grumpy old men at times refusing to give up what you ask for as you sit waiting for it to give up the goods. Does it tell you what is ailing it, no it just meanders along sometimes giving up pearls of wisdom like “I can’t do that” Oh where can I find a simple sweet Windows XP fixer.

This even extends to browsers running under windows XP. Firefox keeps telling me that I have loaded a website that needs some active X component but doesn’t tell you what it is. When you tell it to go off and find it, it wanders off into the Internet cloud and then comes back and says it can’t find it. It like windows XP it also continues to refuse to tell you what it is.

Sometimes Windows XP offers to let you go off to the Microsoft help site and find information that will help you to fix a problem. When you do, you end up skiing through this labyrinth of links going round and round in circles trying to answer questions you don’t understand until you finally give up get the port out and go to bed.

Maybe I will wake up in a better mood tomorrow.

Yes, to build links, you have to spend a lot of your precious time in the search of the right links and then sending link requests to the websites. Links are provided on pages with similar or relevant content. When looking at directories make sure the link can be followed, if the link is a rel=”nofollow” don’t waste your time.

Link building is an ongoing process not a quick fix ranking method for your site. Link building is the key for an effective SEO campaign and at drawing direct targeted traffic. Always provide useful and relevant content in your websites niche as this will help in quality organic linking - sites will naturally link to your site once they see unique and helpful information in your site.
